The Socioeconomic Community Institute, Inc. (INSEC) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1985 with a firm commitment to fighting poverty and promoting economic and social self-sufficiency in Puerto Rico. With 40 years of experience, INSEC provides integrated, family-centered services through a network of six regional areas covering 76 municipalities across the island.

Our mission is to empower individuals, families, and low-income communities through technical and educational tools, multisector partnerships, and results-based management. Our approach is grounded in the principles of the ROMA model (Results Oriented Management Accountability) and aligned with the objectives of the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG).

At INSEC, we work toward a clear vision: to be the leading organization in community services by developing innovative programs that foster social and economic stability and well-being. Our values—integrity, service, commitment, empathy, loyalty, and respect—guide every action we take.

Our core programs include Economic Development (small businesses), Job Training, Community Development, and Integrated Support Services. Through these programs, we accompany people on their path to self-sufficiency—offering everything from job training to emergency assistance—always with individualized attention and a community-focused approach.

INSEC’s structure is supported by a tripartite  Board of Directors (public sector, private sector, and the communities we serve), skilled technical staff, and community leaders dedicated to our mission. This participatory governance ensures transparency, quality, and a direct connection with the realities of the communities we serve.

We firmly believe that strengthening communities is the key to transforming Puerto Rico. That is why, in every corner where we are present:  We Are Community, We Are Puerto Rico!
